My mini random "blog."

As families of all walks of life in the States flock to stores to gather stuff at a reduced price to fill their castles, my mind flips through what I’ve seen just this past week. I stood in a trash dump with dozens of hard working Nicaraguans who spend hours every day sorting through garage to make a few bucks to feed their family with. I stood in a dirt floor concrete structure where a mom of seven beautiful children lives and works extremely hard to clean bottles to support her kids. Lastly I stood in the little village area right outside of the dump watching surrounded my little kids whose parents work in the dump. These children really don’t have much, they don’t live a easy life but what broke me was their joy, just look at those faces. Meanwhile in the states we just had a day of “thanksgiving” but today or maybe even yesterday evening millions of North Americans rushed into stores or online sites to buy some more stuff as if they didn’t have enough. When will we stop and look at the world around us to see the millions and millions who don’t even have the most basic human needs?! When will we have enough? When will our castles be full enough and their walls be high enough? We have built of walls around us to keep us “blinded” from the reality of those less fortunate then us. What if the money that us Christians in the USA spent today went to helping those in terrible situations both physically and spiritually instead of buying more stuff we don’t need? Every time I go back to states after traveling I have culture stock of just how rich we are. I wish I could drop everyone in all the places I’ve stood so you could see just how blessed y’all are. I wish that we would take our blessings and use it for the Kingdom of Christ not the kingdom of us. Let’s start thinking of others first. Let our joy be like the kids at the dump, found in the simplest things but even more important found in the Lord not stuff. James 5:1-6 has a good warning for us.
